This is all my opinion. YMMV because I could know stuff or I could just be talking out of my ass.
I've watched both Buffy and Angel from their very beginnings. I watched Firefly because it was Joss and Miracles because it was David Greenwalt. I think Tim Minear is a genius and I trust in Jeff Bell. Joss may be a genius or he may be insane, I'm never sure.
BtVS is the only program that came even close to affecting me the way Babylon 5 did, and I'm hoping that AtS will someday do the same.
Babylon 5 is the best television program I've ever seen. Rick Berman and Brannon Braga have killed Star Trek. J. Michael Straczynski is a genius and Bonnie Hammer is the devil. Starbuck is not a woman.
I never really liked Buffy until season seven had ended and I saw her again on the reruns of season one. I liked Willow in the beginning, didn't like her in the middle, and liked her again at the end. I hated Xander for leaving Anya at the altar, even though I think he had valid fears. The more Giles evolved, the more I liked him.
Crazy!John is the best Crichton of them all. Crazy!Spike was fun but I'm glad it didn't go on for too many episodes. Crazy!Cole was funny as hell and didn't last long enough.
Moya is cool. Chiana is beautiful and strange. Scorpius is a great villian. I'm glad Jool's gone.
Cordy was a wonderful, horrible, snarky bitch and she was great. I never liked Harmony until she became a vampire. I thought Oz was the sweetest thing I ever saw. I loved Anya always. I never liked Dawn.
There never should have been sequels to The Highlander. Connor MacLeod is the only one. Duncan MacLeod is a fool for leaving so many of his enemies alive. Joe is sexy as hell and I'd pay good money to see him and Giles play and sing together.
Angel is a dork. Angelus is snarky evil. They're both the same guy and this "soul/not-soul" division is just Angel refusing to face up to himself.
I refuse to believe Richie is dead. He lives forever in a happy place with Doyle, Anya, Jonathan and Londo. Jim Kirk would have been on The Enterprise in his perfect place, not on a horse in the middle of nowhere. That's where Bill Shatner would be.
Every time I see Joyce in a rerun I say "Live it up Joyce, you've only got [so much] time left." I was mad when Riley said "but she doesn't love me" because then I couldn't hate him anymore. Recently, I've started to like him very much.
Special Unit 2 was funny. So was The Chronicle. Space Rangers was cool. Crusade should have gone on. Farscape isn't over until I say it's over.
I loved Spike best with Dru. I loved the angst of Buffy and Angel's love that was not meant to be. I loved Spike loving Buffy. I loved Anya and Xander both learning about love and life together. I loved Willow with Oz and Willow with Tara. I don't see how anyone could love Kennedy.
I like Gunn with Gwen and not with Fred. I like Angel with Darla and not with Cordy. I like Wes with Lilah and Lilah with Wes. I think Joyce and Giles would have gone for four, even five times, if Buffy hadn't interrupted them, because Giles is a stevedore. Both Lindsey and Spike love too well, if not wisely.
I liked John with Aeryn and D'Argo with Chiana. I never got Zhaan and Stark.
I never liked Sheridan and Delenn. Londo Mollari is one of my favorite characters ever. I laughed when Morden died. I cried when Londo didn't see anything. I cried again when I found out from the books that he did. Garibaldi is close to my ideal.
Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa and Brian Thompson are the best genre guest stars ever.
I hate that I liked Andrew because I wanted to hate him for killing Jonathan. I've always felt that certain characters were granted "get out of jail free" cards for doing something wrong, while others were forever punished. Willow? Skinned a guy? It's okay, you were upset. Xander? Left someone at the altar? It's okay, we understand.
Xena could have kicked Hercules' ass. Ares was the hottest god ever. Gabrielle, like Wesley Crusher, should have been turned into a little styrofoam dodecahedron.
I never understood Connor until his story had been completely told and now I miss him terribly.
Captain Kirk is the best captain ever. Picard, while great, doesn't hold a candle to him. Archer is not so bad, Janeway is the great windbag of the universe, and the Sisko, while linear, doesn't even count.
The Mayor was a great villian. Adam was lame. Glory was way cool. Ben was Glory. The Master was hideously creepy, but sort of a dork. The Trio made me laugh and Willow made me pity her. The First was only cool in
thefirstevil's journal. Angelus was the best Big Bad of them all.
Bester is cooler than Chekov. Sam Beckett is sweeter than Jonathan Archer. Dylan Hunt is smarter than Hercules. Nebula is nicer than Jasmine, they're both cooler than Hel, but Zoe could kick all their asses.
Much like the Mayor, she's My Faith. I think if any of the group had bothered to be her friend, she might have had a chance. Buffy wasn't being her friend, Buffy was using Faith to try and lose herself. Faith has chemistry with everyone and everything. I would have watched the Faith/Spike spinoff.
Bad is sexy. Tyr, Crais, Spike, Angelus, Lex, Ares, red-kryptonite Clark, Ethan.
Bobby Drake is not that young! Every incarnation of Scott Summers is a dick. The X-men fandom gives you more angst for your money. How can you not slash John and Bobby? Fire and ice, man, fire and ice.
I think Giles and Ethan have a relationship that exists on many levels and will exist for many years. I think a part of Riley will always love Buffy. I think a part of Buffy will always love Angel. Anya and Xander would have loved each other forever, even if they never reconciled.
Lex and Clark share a beautiful love. Lana is annoyingly perfect. Chloe is going to be very cool while she's evil.
The Body is one of my favorite episodes, even though I can't watch it very often because it makes me remember my father's death and it hurts too much. I also really liked: Prophecy Girl, Passion, I Only Have Eyes For You, Band Candy, The Wish, The Zeppo, The Prom, Hush, This Year's Girl, Superstar, Restless, Family, Triangle, Life Serial, OMWF, Tabula Rasa, Him, CWDP, and Storyteller. Clearly I go for the funny with the crying angst as runner up.
I probably watch an average of 6 hours of BtVS per week thanks to FX. When AtS starts airing this fall (on TBS? TNT?) I expect my average to rise. I have probably watched each episode of BtVS seasons 1-5 at least five times if not more, and it's probably more. I'm slowly catching up with season 6 and once season 7 starts airing I'll be watching that, too.
I rarely watch Babylon 5 in reruns because I think it must be watched in order and completely. I could watch "Crackers Don't Matter" all day long. I'm waiting to watch the unaired Firefly episodes on DVD, but downloading them is sounding more and more appealing every day.
Harley Quinn can kick your ass and mine. And she'll do it, too. Don't make her!
